Traditional Toddler/Younger Preschool Classes
NLA has morning classes for ages 2-5 years and Full-Day options for potty-trained children ages 3-5 years. | ||
Two Year Olds (Mornings 9:00-11:30 AM) These students are working on using the toilet with appropriate adult help. In this class children naturally expand their vocabulary, learning to use more complex sentences by conversing with adults and peers. They are working on experiencing the world around them, seeing their peers as friendly faces, practicing using their voices and kind hands, sharing space and objects, and following 2-step directions. Every day these students sit at a story and song centered group/carpet lesson, work on table projects and activities, play with toys both large and small, and have daily play at the playground or in the upstairs gym. | Three and Four Year Olds (Mornings 9:00-11:30 AM) These students should be toilet trained, and needing minimal reminders for hand washing. In these classes children begin to practice important classroom skills such as hand raising, following group directions, choosing play centers, and focusing on table activities. Every day these students have story and song centered group/carpet lesson, work on table projects and activities, play with toys both large and small, and have daily play at the playground or in the upstairs gym. Children review and practice their alphabet, counting, matching, observation, and problem-solving skills. These are our Readiness classes, preparing children to transition to Pre-Kindergarten the following school year. *This is NOT an option for 4 year olds who will be entering Kindergarten the following school year. Those students will need to register for our 5-Day Pre-K Program.* |
NLA Extended Day Enrichment for Ages 3-4 (Little Llamas): M-F, 11:30-3:00 PM, includes lunch hour
Students in Little Llamas will engage in activities similar to students in Kindergarten Enrichment. Students will have ample opportunities to strengthen gross and fine motor skills, practice math and language/literacy skills, refine cognitive logic and problem solving, and grow their social/emotional development through play as they work with others during these sessions. This will be a great opportunity for making new friends, exploring concepts more deeply, and having fun in the process. Students enrolling in Little Llamas MUST be potty trained.
Little Llamas students bring their own packed lunch (nut-free). Students eat with peers and staff at tables, talking about the day, food, manners, and friends. Then they clean up, and read books, enjoy an activity, and transition to their afternoon class.
Little Llamas are also eligible to add on our Extended Day Program Additions (Breakfast Club and/or After School Special): see below.
*Little Llamas is NOT an option for 4 year olds who will be entering Kindergarten the following school year. Those students will need to register for our 5-Day Pre-K Program.*
Pre-K and Kindergarten Class Offerings
NLA has half-day classes for Pre-K, Full-Day options for Pre-K and afternoon Enrichment for Kindergarten. Our Pre-K Program offering runs all 5 mornings and is designed to prepare students for Kindergarten. This programming is our only option for 4-5 year olds who will be entering Kindergarten the following school year.
Pre-K: (5 mornings, 9:00-11:30 AM or 5 afternoons 12:30-3:00 PM)
In the Giraffes and Lions classes, children are 4 to 5 years of age and preparing to enter Kindergarten in the upcoming school year (Sept 2026). Children must be able to communicate their need to use the restroom. These classes continue to teach academic and social skills, building on the previous years to prepare students (and parents!) emotionally for Kindergarten. Emphasis is placed on social interactions using kindness, and good conversation skills through stories, games, hands-on math activities, creative art projects, first-person science observation, and more!
Extended Day Enrichment (Llamas) for Pre-K and Kindergarten: Mon-Fri, AM & PM options, includes lunch hour
Our Llamas Enrichment Classes will provide ample opportunities to strengthen gross and fine motor skills, practice math and language/literacy skills, refine cognitive logic and problem solving, and grow social/emotional development through play as students work with others during these sessions. Llamas stands for Loving Literacy Art Math And Science. This will be a great opportunity for making new friends, exploring concepts more deeply, and having fun in the process.
Full Day Pre-K Students would attend Enrichment in the morning, followed by the lunch hour, and spend the afternoon in a Pre-K classroom. Full Day for Pre-K runs from 8:40 AM-3:00 PM.
Kindergarten Llamas Enrichment hours are PM only, from 11:30 AM-3:20 PM. All Kindergarten Students in the Palmyra Area School District who register for NLA Kindergarten Enrichment will be assigned Morning Kindergarten in 2026-2027, and would attend NLA Kindergarten Enrichment in the afternoon. These students will be bussed to Forge Road Elementary School after their AM Kindergarten session. Our NLA Staff will pickup the Kindergarten Students from Forge Road Elementary and walk them to NLA for the afternoon.
NLA Pre-K/Kindergarten students bring their own packed lunch (nut-free). Students eat with peers and staff at tables, talking about the day, food, manners, and friends. Then they clean up, and read books, enjoy an activity, and transition to their afternoon class.
